Paris Blog 10: Giverny

No water lilies in bloom, but just about everything else.  Warmest day, sunny, and the largest and densest crowds besides Notre Dame.  But still spectacular, and the Monet home, with its world-class collection of Japanese prints (!).  What a treat.
One very interesting event: on the train back to Paris, we were crushed by a huge mob of people, not unlike rush hour on the subway.  A young Muslim woman managed to squeeze herself and her baby carriage on to the train.  A gentleman proceeded to berate her, very loudly, for not folding up the carriage, and she went right back at him, all in very loud French, of course.  He finally pushed through the crowd, and we asked Adeline what they had said.  The "gentlemen" said, "I feel sorry for your husband!", and she shouted back "I feel sorry for your wife!"

I would be hard-put to choose between these to photos.

Chaffinch, very common in Europe

The old man himself.  Compare with the picture above.
