Alex and Carter, fire engine and South Shore Model Train Museum

Wow, what a day.  Two and four-year-olds are incredibly easy to entertain, but Susan and I outdid ourselves today.  I had heard about a model train club with a huge set-up in Hingham that would, on very rare occasion, open up their display to the public, and that is just what we saw today.  I don't believe I have ever seen Alex so excited.  It was a work in progress, but what a fantastic job they have done so far.  This is the work of obsessed fanatics who know exactly what they are doing and how to achieve it.  The detail, the creativity, all were just wonderful.  Here is the day.

We're off!

Coming into Bare Cove, before the train museum, the Hingham Fire Engine Museum!

The bell was very very loud.

And into the model train museum.  This train was hauling circus wagons.

Most of the sights were pretty high (not necessarily child-friendly) but we did our best.

The batmobile!

This may give you an idea of the magnitude of what they are planning.

A painted background, very well done.

How about the dude and the babe in the boat?

One huge train was carrying dozens of construction vehicles.

Back to Hanson for a chance at a playground, but they both fell asleep!
On to  Carol and Riggo's for dinner.

"Mine, mine, mine!

"You mean......they're not mine?"

At the Mazzolis for Pizza to end a wonderful day

Alex and Pratt Farm, Duxbury birds

Monday, my day with Alex, and we went for a walk at Pratt Farm, one of my favorite places, and he really enjoyed it.  This AM I drove to Duxbury Beach, not expecting much, and almost drove by a young Cooper's Hawk, sitting on a pole right beside the road, and eating a bird.  I was about ten feet away, and he refused to budge from his meal.  Quite a sight.

Some Fall foliage left.  Pratt has so many wonderful trails.

A new trail discovered, out to a little bit of land almost completely surrounded by water.  Alex said, "I don't know about this!" but I persuaded him to cross the "bridge" and this photo records his bravery.

Fall Colors, Falmouth Chorale

There was so much more color this Fall, than in the past few.  I wish I had more time to explore, but I did find a few graveyards, which always seem to house some spectacular maples.  Susan  took a few pictures of me in performance with the Falmouth Chorale (Lauridson "Lux Aeterna" and the Mozart "Coronation" Mass)  Only one trombone hired, as I doubled Bass and Tenor Trombone.
What a luscious piece the "Lux" is, very difficult for an amateur choir, and Falmouth came very close.  I would love to play the piece  in a massive cathedral with a perfectly balanced boys choir.
Here are some recent photos, including Boston Harbor on a crystal-clear morning ferry ride.

Approaching Rowes Wharf.

Boston architecture near South Station

Fall Color near the Heritage Plantation, Sandwich

The next five are from a cemetery in Hingham

Falmouth Chorale Performance at First Church, Sandwich.

Susan took these, and then we went to the Belfry Bistro for dinner, blowing most of what I made on the performance.
Hey, what are these gigs for?

These next four are from a cemetery in Hanson
