First post during self-distancing

It has been a sobering month.  Susan and I have pretty much isolated ourselves, and only going out for occasional shopping, and every day walks.  All of our activities (church, social, gigging, etc.) are all on hold or cancelled, and while it has been somewhat challenging, it is not nearly as much of a problem for the two of us, as others who are alone, not to mention the thousands who are working in health organizations and nursing homes.  We are very fortunate to have children who can help us if we need it, and we are economically pretty secure.

Meanwhile, here is a blog from the past several weeks, including some walks, and a few (very few) birds.  When I think of all those birds I expected to see this week in Costa Rica!
Alex, Scott and Carter at Stonybrook Nature Preserve, Walpole
(They climbed the mountain!  Ta-dah!)

Song Sparrow at Cape Cod Canal

Horned Lark at Scusset State Park on Cape Cod Canal

At Striar Conservancy, Middleboro

The first real sign of Spring arriving, Skunk Cabbage at Massasoit State  Park, Lakeville.
(all state parks and reservations are filled with people walking, a great thing, although it is sometimes difficult to
keep six feet away.  But everybody is gracious.)

So, Barbara, what is this?

At Damon Point in Marshfield
(There is a Bald Eagle nesting here somewhere, but I have yet to see it.)

First Great White Heron of the Spring, in Scituate marshes.

There is so very little color in the woods now, that even a tiny amount stands out.
