In Santa Fe, there is the wonderful Museum Hill, a fabulous collection of 3 museums and a botanical garden a few miles south on the Old Santa Fe Trail. We visited the botanical garden early, then on to the Museum of International Folk Art, and lastly the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture. I'm sorry we missed the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art. Next time.
I had been advised to see the International Folk Art Museum by a lot of people. I was so rewarded with this place. The first exhibit was of the folklore of Japan, and its demons and ghosts in art. It was terrific.

In one huge wing, the Girard, was a collection of miniatures created all over the world. Alexander Girard spent his lifetime collecting these tiny sculptures, 100,000 of which are displayed in windows, stage settings, dioramas, etc. Not to be missed by all ages. |

All in all, some of the best museum experiences ever. And did I mention that it was "community" day in Santa Fe, and all the museums were free!
