Blog 1 from Susan's birthday trip: The P&B

I took Susan to Mystic, Conn. to a B&B and the Turner exhibit.
This first blog is about the House of 1833 B&B, and Mystic.
The whole weekend was delightful.
A sea captain's house, this was a magnificent example of
what one could do with money back then.

Susan in our room, the "Ivy". The hosts had two slices of birthday cake
waiting, as well as the decorations. And a decanter of port and glasses in the room!

In the hallway outside our room.

Exploring the downstairs before breakfast.  Susan found the rooms very cluttered (true),
but most of the clutter was very high-end antiques, and I enjoyed it.

In the dining room.

Susan at breakfast.  The food was as good as anything I have had in a B&B.

A satiric poster, printed by men, of a
suffragette poster.

A painting of the ship captained by the builder of the house.

Moe room views.

The piano is a Chickering from the same year as the house, 1833.

A Chinese wedding bed in the Peach room.

Before sunrise, Mystic harbor.

The Mayflower, being readied for Plymouth's 400th.

Common Loon

Hooded Merganser

Later in the day, sunlight, Mystic Harbor,  the "Charles W. Morgan" whaling ship.
