Louis Stewart and I visit Portland and Peaks Island

A spectacularly beautiful day, perfect temperature, and a fantastic Island by ferry from Portland, ME

Louis and I left Boston at 8:00 AM, drove to Portland, took a ferry to Peaks Island, had lunch, took a taxi (Peaks Taxi with with a great guide, Gary), and had a marvelous time.  Here are pictures from the trip.

A mural in the terminal showing the islands of Casco Bay
Peaks is the middle island on the left, about a 20 minute ride.

Looking back at the Portland dock.

Louis in the middle.

Gorgeous wooden sailboat.

The 5th.of Maine Museum. One of the most decorated infantry regiments of the Civil War

A huge ruin of a gun emplacement, where 16" guns defended Portland during WW2

One of the very eerie tunnels located near the emplacements.

Our very instructive, informative former Science teacher and taxi driver, Gary.

This is Jessica George's art gallery. Very interesting and beautiful works.

Awaiting the return ferry.

And here she is.

Goodbye, Peaks Island.

As you can see, it was a magnificent day, with perfect temps.

Into Portland dock.

Another spectacular wooden ship

What a great day we had.
