We can thank Sally for insisting we see the Borghese. Those in the know (like Sally) know that this gallery with its incredible collection of Bernini, Caravaggio and marbles is one of the must visits in Rome. One of the most lavish galleries I have ever seen, its walls, ceilings and antechambers all are covered with art and decoration on a scale only the incredibly wealthy could realize. You could spend a huge amount of time in each and every room, there is so much to discover.
It was incredibly hard to delete enough art photos and still represent this stunning place. I hope you will be patient with this one!
Thank you, Sally and Neal, for insisting on this. And as happened so often, we thought of you and your enthusiasm for this place, and so well understood.
And another incredibly beautiful day. I started the morning by doing a little birding, and saw quite a few Rose-ringed Parakeets (earlier blog). |
And you are presented immediately with beautiful rooms. |
