Don and the Canadian Rockies

Don and I decided to celebrate our 75th birthday by going to the Canadian Rockies, which happened to be celebrating their 150th. I'll post the blog by days accomplishments, and hope I can at least do credit to what was a very rewarding trip.
Monday, Aug. 1
Spectacular views of Boston, taking off, Air Canada, to Toronto and then Calgary

If you look close, you can see the U.S.S Constitution, in the water
after a two-year refit.

First stop in Canmore,  Don taking his first "Rockies" picture

All of the Northeast has had a drought since May, and the Rockies were no exception.  Incredible forest fires were
raging all week, and vision was really smoky, especially the first and last days.  We had some great, clear days in the
middle of the week.

Even in the smoke, the mountains made you gasp.

In Golden, and flowing west was the Columbia River and huge marshes.
The first bird shot of the trip, a Loon
Not a lot of birds to be seen (the drought?)

Great Blue Heron

Easter Kingbirds

Barn Swallow

We saw more Osprey than anything else.
