Costa Rica 3 Birding with Marino

The further trips out were mostly done with Marino Chacun as our guide. These trips included trails up into the mountains above the Savegre Inn, and were very rewarding.  A new experience was driving a great distance on a very rough, switch-back road up to a spectacular viewing platform overlooking the entire valley that rises above the Inn.  Here are some further birds of the trip.  Some of these photos are not, as Neal would say, belong displayed on the wall, but are basic identification only.

This is as close (this year) as I got to the Resplendent Quetzal.  I did see him fly, but this early
morning, he stayed in the nest with one youngster, while the female went away for food, and we finally gave up.

Here is a pano view of the whole valley, taken from a viewing platform
high above the Savegre Hotel.

Neal and Sally enjoying the breathtaking view.  This is where I got the photo of Batsu Gardens
on the other side of the valley.

And here is that platform from Batsu Gardens.
