Good friend Roy Campbell and I went to the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, which has always been one of my favorite places to spend a few hours. The exhibit was based on the inspiration of "Bartram's Boxes". John Bartram was America's first botanist, and derived his income from selling boxes of collected seeds and seedlings which he boxed and sold to subscribers back in England. Three generations of Bartrams were involved, and they transformed (with Magnolia, Azalea, Mountain Laurel, Rhododendron, Maple, Black Gum, Vibernum and Sumac) the countryside of England with colors unseen there before.
So the exhibit, mostly of great woodworking artists, paid homage to him.
