Visiting Jackson and Oliver at Saratoga Springs and Skidmore College

What a delightful trip.  The weather, forecast for cold and wet turned out to be just cold but beautiful, and Jackson and Oliver were delightful hosts.  I told them: did they realize how many millions of kids would rather have a tooth extracted than entertain their grandparents for two days?

We stayed in a quite pleasant motel just three miles from their campus.

Here is the weekend.  (If you want to see the full image, click on it!)

Friday night, we met Jackson and Oliver at "Druthers" on Saratoga Lake

A great choice, although the $28. for the cheese board was a bit much.  But the food was delicious, and Susan took home enough salad for three days of lunch.  (I did not take home any of my burger).

Saturday morning, we gave the kids off for homework, and we explored Broadway Ave. in downtown Saratoga.  Lots of wonderful shops, restaurants, and very, very busy.

The architecture of Saratoga Springs is worth a visit.  There will be a blog on that later.

Jackson and Oliver joined us in the afternoon, and we visited the Saratoga Auto Museum.  And how fantastic (!) they had a special exhibit of autos and machines from ALL of the James Bond ((007) movies!  And what a display, from pristine Aston Martins, to damaged and destroyed autos from the films.  And of course a lot of cool weapons!  Another blog for that visit soon.

And the upper floor had the racing car collection (see the blog!).

Outside the museum.

And on to the teaching art museum at Skidmore, and a special exhibition of art by artist Paula Wilson

And finally, a visit to Jackson's apartment at Skidmore.  Very nice.
Comments from Ken and Erin were: "Check the Fridge!" (Ken), and "Get that kid a hair cut!" (Erin)

What absolutely great hosts!  Then off to dinner at Wheatfields. These two gentlemen know their restaurants!

Sunday morning before having breakfast with them both, I drove around the city looking for great architecture to photograph (again, another blog to check out).

After breakfast at the Country Corner Cafe (fried eggs and grits), Susan and I were off back to Middleboro.  What a great time you showed us, Jackson and Oliver.  Thank you so very much.
So proud!
