Sally, Jenny, Johnny,Barbara, Karl, Williamstown, the Clark Institute, and the Munch exhibition

What a marvelous weekend and more.  The timeline went like this:

Thursday: Susan and I picked up Sally at Logan airport and drove to the North End where we had dinner together at Filippo's and then on to her hotel.

Friday, we picked up Jenny and Johnny Brant at the Flynn Cruise Terminal (Black Falcon) where they disembarked from the cruise ship "Neptune" on a trip up to Canadian Atlantic ports.  We took them to the Museum of Fine Arts, and met Barbara and Karl, concentrated on the musical instruments, Monet, and the Netherlands collection.  Susan and I then drove to Scituate where I had a Satuit Band Concert.

Saturday off to Williamstown to visit the Clark Institute with special interest in the Munch exhibit ("The Scream"), the only U.S. museum to host this exhibition.

Sunday up at dawn to visit the pond in pack of our lodging, to photograph Cedar Waxwings and a Kingfisher, and then on to the Clark for the exhibit.

Monday back home to our very needy cat.

Here is post one up until the Munch exhibit.  Post 2 will be about the Clark's permanent collection, which is considerable, and full of some of my favorite art.

One wonders if Susan knew this was in the exhibition and chose that blouse accordingly!

It was an enthralling exhibit.  I admit to being underwhelmed at first, but I grew to admire and
enjoy some of them.  All of the influences were there, and the fact that he lived and painted during WWI would perhaps preclude him from being a happy, simplistic or shallow artist.  Some of the paintings ARE too simplistic for my taste, but compared to a huge collection of artists to come whose scribblings take 20 minutes of effort, he deserved the recognition this exhibition presents. Thank you, Clark!
